Brass Electrode Caps and Buttons

Neon brass buttons and caps are essential components for safe and reliable neon installations. Designed to help prevent electrical arcing between a neon electrode and an energized conductor, they provide a secure connection while enhancing overall system performance.

Easy to install, these precision-made brass caps create a dependable electrical contact within spring-loaded neon housings, helping ensure consistent operation and long-term reliability. They are also a required component when using our Neon Sculpture Bases, making them an indispensable part of any professional neon assembly.

Whether you're building a custom neon piece or maintaining an existing installation, neon brass buttons and caps deliver the safety, conductivity, and performance your project demands.

Ribbed Electrode-to-Housing Brass Caps

Bellows Air Gap Neon Housings were a standard component of traditional neon sign construction from the 1930s through the 1980s, with peak use during the 1940s–1970s classic neon era. As part of the high-voltage electrode connection system, these housings were installed between the neon transformer and the glass tubing to maintain a safe "air-gap" clearance that prevented electrical arcing to nearby metal surfaces or moisture paths. Their flexible bellows-style design also allowed for slight movement and vibration between the glass tube and mounting structure, helping protect delicate neon assemblies in vintage sign cabinets.

Used in conjunction with these housings were Ribbed Electrode-to-Housing Brass Caps, which created the secure electrical connection between the neon electrode and the coil-spring housing assembly. The ribbed design allowed the spring housing to tightly grip the brass cap, producing the reliable high-voltage contact that became a hallmark of traditional neon sign wiring.

While modern neon systems have largely replaced these components with electronic power supplies, insulated PK housings, and fully enclosed channel-letter designs, restorers and collectors still encounter countless vintage signs built around these original connection methods. Our Ribbed Electrode-to-Housing Brass Caps are faithful reproductions of the classic originals, helping preserve both the authenticity and functionality of historic neon signage from a bygone era.
